A favorite thing about this beautiful park is that you can sit in the cool shade of the pavilions watching the waves roll in just a few hundred feet away.  The customary cool breezes make it so comfortable in this setting.  Last year, we heard comments llike "can you believe this is July in Florida?"

When we boarded our buses to return to The Villages, our members told us they could return here every other month. Well, we kept you waiting a whole year, but hope the timing is just right for you now!

As you can see below, the beach is quiet and narrow, making it easy to carry your beach gear just a short distance. Unfortunately, we learned that chairs and umbrellas are not available for rent here but since the beach is so narrow, this would be the perfect time to borrow a chair and umbrella from a friend or neighbor to bring along.

A sparkling new (December 2012) community-designed 4-acre beachfront park offers free parking, a splash pad, 4 picnic pavilions, concessions, outdoor showers, and restrooms. The reddish pink sand by the water's edge is caused by crushed coquina shells washing up during tide. Ormond is also much less congested and commercial than Daytona, just three miles away. Best yet, there are about a dozen restaurants within a two-three block walk for your dining pleasure.
